This collection of papers includes chronologically arranged correspondence (many facsimiles and copies), documents, and receipts from 1787 to 1825. Also included are items from a letterpress copybook, 1787-1801, most of which are illegible and a few of which are addressed to John Adams (1735-1826). The correspondence includes mention of such varied topics as weights and measures, the Louisiana Purchase, political parties and civil government, Indian problems, morality, etc. The documents include appointments, commissions, etc., signed by Jefferson as President.
